The winner of The Cricket Society/MCC Book of the Year competition was announced at Lord's on Wednesday 19th April. A packed Long Room were treated to a very witty and amusing keynote speech by actor and cricket fan Jim Carter - folk may recall him playing Carson in the ITV show Downton Abbey.

Two judges, Stephen Fay and David Kynaston retired this year after many years service and were presented with framed certificates.

Almost all the shortisted authors were present including Graham "Foxy" Fowler, Alan Butcher, Peter Oborne and Richard Heller and Emma John. Also present was the winner, announced by Chairman of the judges Vic Marks, Mark Nicholas for  his book "The Beautiful Game: My Love Affair With Cricket"
